Virtual Currency Sales

Growing or Shrinking?

For the people who know nothing about the virtual gaming world, they most likely would be surprised to hear that there is a multi-billion dollar industry going on. Although a lot of that money comes from the actual sale of the games from the companies to the users, a large portion of that industry comes in the form of virtual currency sales. For the people who are in the virtual world, you know that these sales are necessary because it helps you advance your own game to the next level. Although there are a lot of sales, some people are wondering whether they are growing or shrinking.

This is a difficult question to answer because the virtual currency sales are not as strictly regulated as, for instance, stock market sales. There appears to be sort of a catch 22 going on right now in the gaming world because users still are in the market for gold. The problem with this is that the gaming companies are trying to put strict regulations on how you can obtain that currency. There is a lot of gold that is sold illegally with the use of gold farms and bots, and that is what the gaming industry is trying to stop.

The people who had been purchasing virtual currency from those locations now are in the market for a new vendor. In addition, some people are worried that they will get in trouble for buying from places like that and they do not want their accounts banned. From this respect, it appears the virtual currency sales are shrinking. However, you then have the places such as hi5, which is a gaming social network that allows you to buy currency to give as gifts to your online friends. This is becoming increasingly popular, so there still are people who are buying currency.

Most people agree that, once better regulations are in order, the virtual currency sales will start to grow again the way they did a few years ago. The fact that it still is a $1 billion industry proves that there still is more than an interest in virtual currency. Another good sign for this is that the sale of games still is increasing. If there were a decline in gaming interest, then there most certainly would be a decline in currency sales as a direct result. A multi-billion dollar industry is a good sign for people worried about the sales.
